Summary

In 2013, Jake Dagel, a student at Des Moines Area Community College, sought to distribute flyers protesting the college’s decision to subsidize an off-campus progressive event. The school responded by demanding he obtain a permit to engage in free speech, and that he stay within the “free speech zone” (which was limited to a table in the student center). Jake contacted ADF for help and, after ADF filed a lawsuit, the college agreed to stop enforcing its unconstitutional speech zone policy.
