Rader v. Johnston

Summary

The Christian Student Fellowship had served the University of Nebraska campus for more than 20 years. Among other things, CSF provided a housing unit that held 22 students. Although the University required freshmen to live on campus, it had provided exceptions and had permitted students to live at the CSF facility. That changed when the University determined the CSF house was not “multi-cultural,” and it denied an exemption to a freshman student. With the help of ADF, the family filed suit, and the U.S. District Court of Nebraska ruled that the university discriminated against the Christian student living arrangements.
