Roberts v. Haragan

Summary

A law student at Texas Tech University School of Law, filed a grounds use request application for a speech event to discuss his views about homosexuality. The University denied his request, stating that such speech is “more appropriate” for the small “free speech gazebo” – a tiny speech zone inside an actual gazebo. ADF filed a lawsuit and the Court struck down the University policies that required a permit before speaking and a restriction on the content of student speech, holding them “facially unconstitutional.”
