Beta Upsilon Chi v. Machen

Summary
In 2007, the University of Florida refused to recognize a Christian men’s fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi, because its membership was limited to Christian men. The University claimed this constituted religious discrimination and violated its nondiscrimination policy. CLS and ADF filed suit on behalf of the fraternity and, after oral argument before the Eleventh Circuit, the University agreed to change its policy to protect the rights of religious student organizations.
