Christian Legal Society Chapter at the University of Montana School of Law v. Russel

Summary

A student at the University of Montana complained that the Christian Legal Society chapter violated the University’s nondiscrimination policy by prohibiting individuals who engage in homosexual conduct from being an officer of the club. The school derecognized the group and student government denied it funding. ADF filed suit on behalf of the club and the University subsequently agreed to recognize the CLS chapter and create viewpoint neutral funding criteria for the student fee system.
