DiscipleMakers, Inc. v. Spanier

Summary

In 2004, Pennsylvania State University prohibited a religious student group from becoming a recognized student organization, claiming its purpose was duplicated by other organizations. Essentially, the University determined there were too many Christian groups on campus. ADF filed a lawsuit asserting the “uniqueness” standard violated the First Amendment, and the University quickly agreed to settle the lawsuit and remove the requirement.
