Indiana University All-Comers Policy

Summary

Indiana University, Bloomington, adopted a new “nondiscrimination” policy that would have forced religioius student groups to open all leadership positions to persons who do not share the group’s religioius beliefs. ADF sent the University a letter on behalf of several student groups, explaining that the policy would violate the groups’ First Amendment rights. The University initially agreed to a one-year moratorium on the policy and subsequently determined it would not require student groups to adopt the policy.
