Ratio Christi at Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis

Summary

Indiana University—Purdue University Indianapolis refused to recognize Ratio Christi as a student group because the group’s constitution states that, as a Christian organization, it requires its officers to be Christians. It allows people of all religious backgrounds to join the organization, but it needs its leaders to espouse the core beliefs of Ratio Christi.

ADF attorneys helped Ratio Christi draft a revised constitution that protects its right to limit leadership to students who espouse the core beliefs of Ratio Christi. After submitting the revised constitution, the University recognized Ratio Christi.
