Cases

Pearson, Caleb

Summary

In 2010, Caleb Pearson, a student at Chemeketa Community College in Oregon, passed out pro-life fliers and displayed pro-life signs on campus. After less than an hour, campus security guards approached Frederick and told him free speech was limited to the free speech zone, a six-foot table inside a campus building, and the he needed approval for any signs. ADF offered its assistance and worked with College officials to correct the unconstitutional policies. On January 1, 2012, the College implemented a new policy that protects student speech and removed its unconstitutional speech code.
